The principals of fire risk assessment
The fire risk assessment is a structured assessment of the fire risk in a building or designated area for the purpose of expressing the current level of fire risk, determining the adequacy of existing fire precautions and determining the need for and nature of, any additional fire precautions (AFP).
Any AFP required are set out as recommendations in the the action plan (which forms an integral part of the documented risk assessment). The objective of the action plan is to set out measures that will ensure that the fire risk is reduced to, or maintained at a tolerable level.
Application and interpretation of legislation, codes of practice and relevant guides

The methodology adopted is intended to determine risk proportionate fire precautions and shall accordingly, preclude any unnecessary expenditure. It is important to understand that risk assessment methodology is intended to facilitate protection of people from fire; and that property fire protection and business interruption caused by fire are distinctly separate issues
The Fire Risk Assessment manual
Our fire risk assessment manual will be provided with a hard cover in loose leaf format so that any particular section may easily be removed for updating, and if necessary, made available for inspection by Fire Authorities, Health and Safety Inspectors and Insurance Companies representatives. The manual will normally contain a detailed site / premises audit, a schedule of significant findings, an expression of level of risk, a recommended action plan and (if required) a plan drawing. The plan drawing may be existing architects plans, old fire certificate plans or new plans; all dependant on the circumstances relative to the premises or venue at the time of inspection.
