The Fire Safety Order 2005 was enacted on the 1st October 2006, Why should you take action?

  • If you are a 'responsible person', the law requires you to do so.
  • Fire Kills. Available statistics (2004 England and Wales) state that fire and rescue services attended over 33,400 fires in non-domestic buildings. These fires killed 38 people and injured over 1,300.
  • Fire costs money. The costs of fire can be high and afterwards many business do not reopen. In 2004, the costs as a consequence of fire, including property damage, human casualties and lost business, were estimated at £2.5 billion.

Where does the Order apply?

The Order applies to virtually all premises and covers nearly every type of building, structure and open space.
